Miles Kane Confirms Last Shadow Puppets Glastonbury Acoustic Set

Following our earlier announcement that the Last Shadow Puppets will perform at Glastonbury tomorrow, we caught up with Miles Kane for his take on it.

"Yeah, it's happening," he admitted. "We're playing an acoustic set at ten past eight on the Park Stage. It will be a little stripped down thing. Just me and Turner."

Earlier, his band The Rascals had triumphed on the Other Stage. "The best part about Glastonbury is playing it. It was fantastic, especially the last song, 'Is It Too Late',that really got them going, it was great.

As he's going to be around tomorrow, Gigwise wondered what he would be up to tonight. "I'm going to watch the Ting Tings now," he smirks. "Just for a laugh, a fucking laugh!

"Am I a fan? Meeeeeeah, she's alright ain't she, meeeeeeeeah! You should come along." Gigwise politely declined.

Keep checking Gigwise for all the news and views from Glastonbury.

Mary J Blige delays tour

US RnB singer Mary J Blige has postponed her Australian and New Zealand tour until later in the year due to exhaustion.
Blige, who is touring in the UK, was set to kick off her Down Under shows in Perth on June 10. The tour was also set to take in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Auckland before wrapping up in Wellington on June 17. A spokesperson for Blige's Australian promoter, Chugg Entertainment , today said the singer had been forced to postpone the shows until November because of "weariness from an overwhelming tour schedule". Chugg Entertainment executive chairman Michael Chugg said he supported the decision and didn't want to put undue stress on Blige or risk health complications. Blige apologised and urged fans to see her in November. "I want to thank all of my wonderful fans who supported the announcement of my first tour in these countries and I can't tell you how excited I was to come down in June and put on a show for you all," Blige said. "Postponing these shows has been an extremely difficult decision for me and I am sincerely sorry that I will not be able to fulfil my tour commitments, but I assure you that the November shows will be well worth the wait." All tickets will be valid for the rescheduled shows or fans will be able to get refunds. The rescheduled dates will be released at the end of the month.

Fox finishes season as most-watched U.S. network

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Fox network, long a second-tier upstart beside the Big Three U.S. broadcasters, finished the season as undisputed ratings leader for the first time after a year that saw the TV industry battered by a writers' strike and other woes.

Fox, a unit of News Corp, owes much of its success to the smash hit talent contest "American Idol," which remains a pop culture phenomenon and the most-watched show on U.S. television despite a second year of softening ratings.

The upset triumph of rock singer David Cook, 25, over 17-year-old teen favorite David Archuleta in Wednesday's finale drew nearly 32 million U.S. viewers, up 3 percent from last year's conclusion, Nielsen Media Research reported on Thursday.

The two-hour broadcast was the second-most-watched episode of the show this season, behind only the 33 million-plus viewers who tuned in for the debut of the program's seventh installment in January.

For the season as a whole, "American Idol" ended its latest run with year-to-year declines in both overall audience and ratings for viewers aged 18 to 49 -- the group most prized by advertisers. In recent weeks, individual episodes also dipped to record ratings lows.

On average, the show tallied about 28.1 million viewers per broadcast this year, compared with 30.8 million at the height of its popularity in 2006 and 30.4 million last year.

It remains to be seen whether "Idol" is in danger of viewer burnout that even the biggest TV hits inevitably face.
